How to: Layering Necklaces for Summer

Have you always wondered how to create that effortless accessories look of style icons Aimee Song and Sincerely Jules?  Take a look our three step guide to layer those necklaces like the Instagram pros.

1) Vary It Vertically:  Make good use of those trailing loops at the ends of those clasps to add and subtract length.  Put on your heaviest or chunkiest necklace to "ground" your look first.  Then adjust the length of each "lighter" piece as you put them on to create that varying, graduating effect.    

 

2) Consider the Collar: A collection of delicate necklaces look amazing against an open collar bone, especially with all the lighter and breezier clothing options for spring/summer.  Layering bigger, embellished pieces like statement necklaces pair well with buttoned collars and balance higher necklines.

 

3) Mix It Up: While we're currently enamoured with all things gold this season, don't be afraid to mix metals and also textures.  We love a glamorous stone-set piece paired with thinner chains, or delicate chains set against hand-beaded necklaces.  The best way to nail down that effortless look is to make it not too "matchy matchy".
